LA punk-power-pop legends The Furys unveil “Wicked White” — a 1977 warning about disconnection that’s now a diagnosis
Los Angeles, CA — LA punk-power-pop pioneers The Furys release their new single, “Wicked White,” today via Arcane Alley Records — a song written in 1977 about technology pulling people apart that, fifty years on, plays less like prophecy and more like a diagnosis. This fresh arrangement, tracked with the band’s current lineup, gives the song its first proper studio life since it was written.
I wrote this song in 1977 as a warning. Fifty years later, it’s not a warning anymore. It’s just what’s happening.
Jeff Wolfe
“Wicked White” was written by Jeff Wolfe and Gregg Embrey, published by Songs for Ethan (BMI), and produced by Dave Lewty. It was recorded, mixed and mastered by Karen Basset at her studio. The lineup: Jeff Wolfe (vocal), Dave Lewty (bass), Cliff Roman (guitar & vocal), John DiMambro (guitar), Paolo Dell’Olio (drums, vocal & vocal arrangements).
A tribute to the fans who never left. The single arrives with an official music video, art-directed, AI-produced and edited by Glen Sheehan. Rather than a straight performance clip, it follows a fictional photographer named Marz across four eras of the LA rock scene — from The Furys’ historic 1978 debut at Madame Wong’s, through the Sunset Strip at Gazzarri’s, a 2013 return in Chinatown, and present-day at the Maui Sugar Mill — a tribute to the fans who have stayed connected to this band and this scene across five decades.

Short bio
The Furys are one of Southern California’s first new wave / punk / power-pop bands, making history in October 1978 as the first rock act to play LA’s legendary Madame Wong’s. Nearly five decades later, founder Jeff Wolfe leads the band alongside Dave Lewty (The Cheaters) and Cliff Roman (The Weirdos), with John DiMambro and Paolo Dell’Olio rounding out a lineup that continues to write, record and play live for the fans who’ve never stopped showing up.
